My Girl Scout Troop is working on our silver award, this is our story:
My group for the project consisted of me, and my four friends, Maria, Stephanie, Carina, and Tori. The five of us love to play sports so, our project was to collect new or gently used sports equiptment and deliver it to places like Homeless Solutions so underprivilidged kids can play sports. We named it Operation Share your Spares.
We put collection bins in a local park, the municipal building, and in an indoor soccer building. Everyday, for two weeks, one of us was assigned to check the bins to see if anyone had dropped anything off. Unfortunately, we did not get a very good response so we had to think of a plan B.
Our decision was to hold a collection at a local park and notify lots of people about it. We went around to our town's recreational baseball games to inform people and sent out emails to family and friends. That day we got an amazing turn out and filled around 3 bins with sports equipment.
Then it was time to deliver the equipment. We had 3 places to donate to: The Boys and Girls Club, Homeless Solutions, and The Neighborhood House. All of the kids were so happy when they saw us, it made us feel really excited to be helping them out!
Next, we held a soccer clinic at the Boys and Girls club so the kids could learn how to play. All of the kids enjoyed the clinic a lot! At the end of the clinic we gave the kids stickers and cookies, the couldnt have been more ecstatic!
